Rogelio “Boy” C. Cordua, a vlogger from Alabel, Sarangani, exemplifies the spirit of dedication and versatility. A guitarist, basketball player, church vocalist, and singer, Boy has worn many hats throughout his life, leaving a legacy that spans community service, church leadership, and cultural advocacy.
From Private Worker to Church Leader
Boy dedicated 40 years of his life to ALSONS, working as a private company employee from 1974 until his retirement in 2019. His commitment to sports earned him the role of Sports Commissioner at the company, showcasing his passion for teamwork and athleticism.
In 1971, Boy began serving as a guitarist for the San Isidro Labrador Parish, a role he continues to fulfill to this day. His involvement in the church is profound. As a member of the Knights of Columbus (KofC), he initiated the establishment of two councils in Alabel: the OLPH Spring Council in Barangay Spring and the San Roque Council in Barangay Poblacion. His leadership roles in the KofC include Grand Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator, for which he received awards from the KofC headquarters in the United States. Boy’s commitment took him to KofC conventions, reflecting his deep devotion to the organization’s mission.
Boy’s contributions extended to the Couples for Christ (CFC) and SAMACUR, organizations aimed at strengthening families and communities. As a member of the Parish Economic Council (PEC), he achieved a significant breakthrough by securing the Certificate of Occupancy for the parish from SOCOTECO II after 36 years of negotiations. This achievement ensured a stable and recognized status for parish facilities.
Milestones in Education and Civic Leadership
Boy’s dedication to education is evident in his 13-year tenure as the School Governing Council (SGC) President of Alabel National Science High School (ALSCI), the regional science high school for Region 12. Under his leadership, ALSCI saw significant infrastructure development, including the construction of a covered court and canopy pathways. He played a pivotal role in securing a deed of donation for a 900-square-meter piece of land from the Alcantara Group of Companies, facilitating the construction of an alternate gate, a small bridge, and concrete pavements.
Boy personally engaged with influential leaders, including Mr. Alex Alcantara and former Governor Miguel Rene A. Dominguez, to achieve these milestones. He also ensured financial support from the Sarangani Provincial Government under then-Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, working closely with Engr. Gerald Faciol. Collaborating with four different school principals, Boy championed the betterment of ALSCI for students, teachers, and visitors alike.
As Vice Chairperson of the SGC of Alabel Central Integrated SPED Center from 2018 to 2020, Boy continued his advocacy for quality education. Additionally, his presidency of the Alabel Mega Market Vendors Association for five years strengthened his ties with the local business community, making him a valued stakeholder partner of Alabel National High School.
Family, Faith, and Talent
Boy’s family life is a testament to his values. Married to Juliana Gerodias, a public school teacher for 37 years, the couple raised five accomplished children: Ronnie Cordua, Rogelio Jr., Aize Honeylette, Christine Grace, and Audrey Laine. Their professions, ranging from police service to education, reflect the couple’s dedication to community and personal excellence.
Together, Boy and Juliana showcased their musical talents on television and radio, including appearances on Brigada News TV before the pandemic, bringing joy and inspiration to many.
A New Chapter in Public Service and Media
Today, Boy serves as a board member of the Alabel Business Coordination and Development (ABCD) Board and as an administrative staff member under the Office of the Mayor. He expressed gratitude to Mayor Vic Paul Salarda for entrusting him with this role.
In addition to his government work, Boy remains active in vlogging. Partnering with Armel Saripa, their Facebook page, Ajjas Mixshow TV, highlights Alabel’s economic activities, tourist destinations, culture, governance, and events. Their small interviews and engaging reels have earned praise from local officials, including Mayor Vic Paul Salarda, incoming Mayor Lilibeth “Ybing” J. Salarda, Municipal Councilor Joel E. Aton, and former Governor Miguel Rene Dominguez.
Boy also manages his personal Facebook account, “Rogelio Cordua,” where he shares relevant updates and community news. From reporting on floods to celebrating local gatherings, his posts serve as a bridge connecting the community.

Rogelio “Boy” C. Cordua embodies the essence of a Renaissance man—a dedicated worker, devoted family man, church leader, civic advocate, and cultural promoter. His multifaceted contributions continue to uplift Alabel and its people, inspiring others to follow his path of service, talent, and commitment.
