A Day in Service: Tuesday, January 28, 2025

The first working day of the week in Alabel began with the familiar yet meaningful tradition of the flag-raising ceremony at the Municipal Hall. Mayor Vic Paul Salarda led the event, using the opportunity to extend his heartfelt congratulations to all employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU). He recognized their efforts and accomplishments over the past week, emphasizing their collective contribution to the town’s progress. His words served as an inspiration to all, a reminder that every individual’s hard work builds toward the greater good of Alabel.  

Celebrating Excellence in Sports  



One of the day’s highlights was documenting the handover of a Plaque of Recognition awarded to Alabel for ranking 1st during the Sarangani Provincial Athletic Association (SPAA) Meet 2025, held in Glan. This victory reflects not only the athletic excellence of Alabel’s youth but also the community’s unwavering support for its sports programs. It was a moment of pride for the municipality, a testament to teamwork and dedication.  


Strengthening Local Businesses  





Later in the morning, Mayor Salarda, along with the 14th Sangguniang Bayan members, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Proposed Production Plant Building of Mr. Snow, Alabel’s very own renowned pizza business. The event marked a significant milestone for the homegrown enterprise owned by Rich and Jet, who warmly welcomed everyone to the occasion. This development symbolizes Alabel’s growing business sector, a reflection of its readiness to support local entrepreneurs and encourage economic growth.  


Community Engagement in Barangay Paraiso  







The afternoon took us to Barangay Paraiso, where the foundation anniversary of Purok 1 was celebrated with enthusiasm and warmth. Mayor Salarda and Municipal Tourism Council President Lilibeth “Ybing” Salarda, MPA, led the distribution of Jollibee fried chicken to children, spreading smiles and joy throughout the area. Mayor Salarda also engaged in meaningful discussions with local leaders, exchanging greetings and sharing plans for upcoming projects that aim to further develop the community. The interaction highlighted the LGU’s dedication to staying connected with its constituents and ensuring that development reaches every corner of Alabel.  


 Back to the Office  



Returning to the office, the day continued with productivity as I began drafting articles for social media updates, ensuring that the community remains informed about the LGU’s ongoing initiatives and achievements. While working, a simple yet satisfying merienda of banana cake and ensaymada bread added a comforting touch to the afternoon.  


Looking Ahead  


As the day came to an end, the anticipation of tomorrow’s holiday—Chinese New Year—brought a sense of excitement and an opportunity to rest. It was a fulfilling day, filled with accomplishments, engagements, and moments that showcased Alabel’s unity and progress.  




Every step taken today, from celebrating sports excellence to fostering local businesses and engaging with the community, reflects Alabel’s commitment to growth and development. It is this dedication that makes the town a thriving and vibrant place for its people.
